The Loaf, Mozzarella Cheese & Langkawi

Langkawi Island is a land of the mystics & legend. Langkawi Island gets the recognition as GEOPARK by UNESCO in June 2007. These three components are Mount Machincang Cambrian Geoforest Park, Kilim Geoforest Park and Pulau Dayang Bunting. One should visit all these three places to know why Langkawi ISland are given such status.

Langkawi ‘officially’ get attention from the world when Tun Dr. Mahathir givens a special attention to development of the Island. I still remember the in old days getting to the mainland will took me nearly 2 ½ -3 hours by boat to Kuala Perlis compared to only 45minutes now.

The Loaf

The loaf is owned by Tun Dr Mahathir (Malaysia 4th Prime Minister). It was opened in 2006 at Telaga Harbour or the local will call it as Pantai Kok. Near a white sandy beach which was also a set for the Palace in the epic story of “Anna an The King” (the structure of the set is still there standing).

The bakery based upon traditional Japanese techniques. Tasty & delicious ranges of delegacy of bread & pastries which will make one want to try. I had been there several times every time I went back to Langkawi Island. This is among the best spot for me to stop and have a relaxing time with family & friends with simple coffee & bread.

The price is reasonable compared to bread served in other nearby hotels which the quality is nothing compared to The Loaf. One of my favourites will be potato croissant & Lamb Chop Provencale when I dine there. The Loaf also offers dine in experience which you cannot resist. During the night, you can sit outside & enjoy the calm scenery & delicious food. This just makes me hungry by the way.

I must say, The Loaf shall be a must visit place to all travellers to Langkawi Island.

Mozzarella Cheese

I’m quite surprise to know this cheese ever exist in Langkawi. Even more surprise when it’s made of buffaloes milk. But i do know that there's a buffaloes farm in Kampung Nyior Cabang & already been there (the government owned one).

Bravo & congratulation to the entrepreneur who makes this possible which makes Langkawi even more attracted to visit. An interesting quote from the entrepreneur “Malaysian farmers stand to make almost RM20,000 a month just by selling milk, if they knew how”. Well I think now since the this business already been introduce in Langkawi why not the local agricultural department take a step by training the farmers/local in Langkawi with the help of Friendly Farms.

The best milk/ mozzarella of course should be coming from Langkawi buffaloes itself since its fresh. So my next time when get back to Langkawi I have to try cheese. Be there to get the true experience.

Langkawi Locals.

The newest attraction to langkawi will be buffalo farms. This farm will be head by state's Veterinary Department. I cant wait to see this projects kick-of. Hope that the new state's government will continue this project which will benefits the local people.

For your info, buffaloes are quite famous in Langkawi. Local people preferred buffaloes meat compared to cows meat. This is among the unique thing in Langkawi. So the next time you went to a ‘kenduri’ do ask what meat is it. It’s not that bad & in fact it’s actually more delicious than cow’s meat. That’s why in Langkawi we can see more buffaloes than cows. And the price of a buffaloes is even higher than cows in the same size. (Maybe this fact might not be good to Mozzarella owner’s farm).
